Make Money from Your Blog- Social Spark

A year and a half ago when I started sharing my projects on somewhat simple, I wasn't expecting to make money, I simply wanted a place to share my creativity. But as more time went into to building and managing my site, I decided that I may as well enjoy every benefit of having a successful blog and take advantage of money making opportunities.

People ask me all the time how I have turned my hobby of blogging into a profitable website, so I am inviting all of you to read a short mini-series I am hosting on somewhat simple with some tips and ideas that you might find useful. I have joined ad networks, I opened up ad spots on my sidebar, I became an affiliate for certain companies and I became a representative for a couple marketing groups. I am definitely not a money-making expert, so if you have something to add related to the topics in this series, please leave your remarks in the comments section of each post- we can all help each other!

Today's topic I want to introduce is:
How to Become a Representative for Social Spark
Social Spark is a marketing group that connects bloggers with companies who are trying to promote their brands. If you have a blog (any kind of blog, not just a creative one) you can sign up for Social Spark. Once approved, Social Spark will notify you of any "leads" they think may be applicable to you and your blog. Each lead has different requirements and pays a different amount of money. You can choose to accept or decline the leads they send you- you are never required to participate in anything! I have had all kinds of opportunities offered to me, some that are applicable to my blog that my readers would enjoy, and some that are not applicable or ones that I simply dont have time for.
I would highly recommend you joining Social Spark and see what kinds of opportunities come your way. You really have nothing to lose... except potential profit!
If you sign up now, you will also be eligible for their referral program with incentives for every person you refer (including a trip to Hawaii!) - so what are you waiting for?!?

Thanks Stephanie! I'm a newbie and I've been wondering how all that works.

How "big" of a blog do you have to be to get started with SocialSpark? I've found a lot of those sites want you to have so many twitter followers and FB likes.

Does it matter how many followers you have on blogger? Is there a way you can talk briefly about getting more followers? Thanks for the tip!

To be honest, I am not sure how "big" you have to be to get approved for social spark- I couldnt find their guidlines on this anywhere, so I'd say it wont hurt to try.
And Katie, getting followers is a hard topic, but I will try to add this to the series and hopefully touch on some tips that can help.

it asks you to set a price for a post. Is that a single poste and how much do you suggest

Hmmm... I dont remember the price I put when I signed up. But each and every opportunity I get sent has a different price, so I would put a low number and see what you come up with. I have been offered posts from $5 to $65 so far.
