Valentine S'more Bites

Every holiday, my mom sends my kids a package, FULL of clothes, toys, candy, etc. corresponding to that holiday. I'm not gonna lie, my mom pretty much rocks! This year for Valentine's day, she sent these cute heart shaped marshmallows(along with a hoard of other things)! So...I decided to make little s'more bites with them, since they happen to be one of my most favorite things!

Ingredients:
•1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
•1/2 cup melted butter
•dipping chocolate, store bought~or HERE is a good recipe
•heart shaped marshmallows

Directions:
Mix melted butter and graham cracker crumbs together, spread them evenly into a foil lined 9"x13" pan, press down firmly (I used the back of a spatula) and place into the freezer for about an hour. Remove the foil from the pan and use a mini cookie cutter (mine is Wilton, found at Walmart/Michaels) to cut out heart shapes.

Dip the very bottom of the marshmallows into melted dipping chocolate and place them on top of your cut out graham cracker crust.

Wait for that to cool, I stuck mine in the freeze because I'm impatient! Then dip the whole thing back into the dipping chocolate, place it on wax paper and top with sprinkles, or decorate how ever you like!

My whole family LOVED these, even my not so sweet toothed husband!

  20. Linda~ you could package these in a cute Valentine's cellophane bag (I saw a bunch of cute ones at Michaels), you could put them in a cute take-out box, or you could simply put them in a zip lock baggie and staple some cute Valentine's scrapbook paper on the top. Also, Walmart has a whole section of really cute Valentine goodie packaging this year!

  34. I found these marshmallows at Target!

  35. Angelajls,

I saw some of these marshmallows at WalMart, also looks like Melinda found some at Target. If you can't find any, you could try just using 3 mini marshmallows and place them in a heart shape, or just stick with the big round ones and use some Valentine sprinkles, I think it would be just as cute!

  36. I gave up on the heart shaped marshmallows because I couldn't find them. Instead I used jumbo marshmallows, cut them in half and then cookie cuttered them with some flour on the table surface (to prevent stickiness). It worked all right for the most part, all things considered. My real problem was with the graham cracker crust. As soon as it started to slightly warm up, it fell apart. I continued, improvising as I went. However, in the end I wasn't able to dip the entire piece in chocolate. My chocolate appeared to be too thick and the marshmallow/graham cracker crust unit was too unstable. :( Suggestions?

  37. I made these (kind of) and linked back to you. Thanks so much for the cute Valentine idea! You rock!

  38. Angela,
I'm so sorry these gave you so much trouble! You can add shortening to your chocolate to thin it out. As far as the crust goes, you could try cutting out a few, putting it back in the freezer, then cutting out some more. I did put mine back in the freezer after I put the marshmallows on top. I think once the marshmallows are on, the crust is more sturdy because of the thin chocolate coating between the crust and marshmallow.

  39. Made these for my boys today! Being as we limit red#40 in our home, I just used regular marshmallows cut in half! I also used peppermint chocolate for the coating and drizzled instead of dipped. They look and taste fantastic! THANK YOU for sharing you wonderful idea!!

  40. Thanks Megan. Don't worry about my trouble with them. I was just posting so others could improvise if they found themselves in a similar situation.

Steph.DK - I like chocolate drizzle idea. I may do that with my remaining supplies. :)

  41. This was fun. Our Target didn't have the heartmallows so I went with large marshmallows cut in half. Mine aren't quite as cute, but they ate great!

  42. I made these on Valentine's Day and they were amazing! I, too, had trouble finding heart shaped marshmallows - I used large marshmallows and cut them with a cookie cutter sprayed with pam and then cut the hearts in half. I sprinkled them with cornstarch to keep them from sticking. I tried baking the graham crust instead of freezing it, but ultimately made a new batch of crust and froze it and it worked beautifully. I did make some treats with the frozen baked crust and they were even more amazing! Thank you for this treat - it was awesome and now my favorite!
